Robert Orzabal

President and CEO

Robert Orzabal serves as the current President and CEO of Avinext.

Robert is a first-generation college student and proud 1990 graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned his degree in Engineering Technology. Prior to assuming his current role in 2003, Robert worked for Avinext, formally MicroAge, for 9 years as a network engineer.

His IT technical specialties are routing, switching and wireless. He is married with three children all of whom are graduates of Texas A&M University. Robert is very active in community organizations, enjoys outdoor activities, working with his hands, and spending time with his family. Robert believes anything you do should be done with passion and dedication.

Rick Atwood

Vice President and CFO

Rick graduated from Texas A&M in 1980 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. In 1988, he founded Avinext, originally MicroAge, to fill a need in the quickly growing PC and networking industry. His passion is helping companies and people reach their potential through technology. Outside of Avinext, he enjoys traveling and photography.

John Crockett

COO

Just before graduating from Texas A&M with a degree in economics, John started working at Avinext to learn more about Information Technology. Currently responsible for risk management and human resources, he loves the challenge and pace of the tech industry and the people he’s worked with over his thirty years at Avinext. John is married to Shannon, and they have two sons who are also proud Aggies. In his free time, he enjoys concerts, fly fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Tim Rhome

General Manager

Tim graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.S. in Industrial Technology as a first-generation college student. Tim was an Avinext  customer for many years before joining our team in 2017. He worked for TxDOT, Citibank N.A., and Ubeo in roles ranging from Director of Network Services to Vice President of Sales. Happily married for nearly thirty years to his wife Christi, they have two adult children, Makinsey and Brittan, both are graduates of Texas A&M. In his free time, Tim enjoys traveling, building things, volunteering for various organizations as a Board Member, and playing a game of golf or pickleball when time allows.

Matt Bates

Director of IT

Matt comes from an Air Force family and lived in Germany for several years. He started his 26 years of IT industry experience at Texas A&M when he graduated in 1996 with a BBA in Business Analysis and an MS in Management Information Systems. Matt’s start at Avinext began in 1996 as a PC/server builder while he currently specializes in servers, storage, and networking. Outside of work, Matt is happily married with three daughters and enjoys the great outdoors: camping, fishing, and hunting.

Aaron Amador

Director of Audio Visual

Aaron started his AV career working at a recording studio and as a worship leader for a church. His position at the church gave him a wide range of experience in production as a Technical Director before moving on to become the Broadcast Director at a local TV station. Aaron also gained valuable experience as an AV integrator in building systems for companies in downtown Houston. Currently living in College Station, he’s married with three boys and is passionate about team building. Aaron takes pride in approaching each project with a creative and unique approach that meets each client’s needs.

Chris Hansen

Director of Electronic Security

Having lived in Texas since 2010, Chris has also been in the security and AV industries for twenty-two years. Starting as a field tech in 2002, he worked his way up the ladder to his current position as Director of Electronic Security. He has experience working on some of the country’s largest AV and Security systems in Las Vegas, New York, Oklahoma, and Texas. He now brings that experience to the Brazos Valley. He is married with five adult kids, and on weekends he plays rock star, singing at venues across the state.
